China’s international logistics network continues to expand and improve in 2026, offering better options for shoppers who want to buy from Taobao, 1688, and Weidian. Here’s my roundup of the latest developments in the shipping industry.
EMS & EUB Routes Getting Faster
The China Post EMS and EUB (Express Mail Service / Economic Union Business) networks have seen significant upgrades this year. Delivery times to Europe and North America have improved by 20-30% compared to 2025, with some parcels reaching US destinations in under 10 days via E-EMS.
Middle East Routes Remain Suspended
Due to ongoing geopolitical tensions, shipping routes to several Middle Eastern countries (including Israel, Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon) remain suspended since March. Shippers are advised to make alternative arrangements for these destinations.
EU Customs Impact
The new EU customs regulations that took effect July 1, 2026 have temporarily affected EMS and EUB routes to all 27 EU member states. Under the new system, duties are calculated based on 6-digit HS codes per category, with each category incurring roughly €3 in duty. Agent services have adapted quickly, with most charging a flat €3 per parcel to cover the new requirements. Notably, Switzerland is not part of the EU and remains unaffected.
Brazil Route Temporarily Suspended
The BR-line-packet routes to Brazil have been temporarily suspended since April. Shippers to Brazil should check with their agent services for alternative options.
Free Storage Becomes Industry Standard
One of the most consumer-friendly developments has been the extension of free warehouse storage periods. Top agent services like 360beestbuy now offer up to 300 days of free storage, allowing shoppers to buy items throughout the year and consolidate shipping into fewer, larger packages — saving significantly on international freight costs.
